A frequent guest speaker at professional meetings and conferences,
his clients include large and small companies, family- and closely-held
businesses, educational institutions, individuals and professional
associations. He is a member of the Family Firm Institute, MIT’s
Venture Mentoring Service, the Small Business Association of New
England, and the American Psychological Association.
Richard's business consulting practice emerged naturally from
his personal experience and from his work with Dana Group Associates
(DGA), an ongoing, multi–disciplinary human services organization.
Richard founded, built and managed the business operations of DGA
for more than twenty years and successfully transitioned and sold
the business in 2006. His experience leading DGA from start-up to
mature business provides him a deep, first-hand understanding of
the issues faced by small- and intermediate-sized businesses in
varying economic climates. In addition, Richard grew up in a family
business where learning was a part of daily life.
Richard Dana, Ed.D. received his B.A. from University of California
at Berkeley, and his doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Boston
University. A specialist in the behavioral sciences, Richard’s
work has focused on individuals, groups, learning styles and communication.
Drawing on his clinical experience, Richard brings a deep understanding
of how cognitive and personality styles affect learning, providing
a solid conceptual foundation on which to base successful interventions.
Richard’s strength as a consultant is based on his ability
to identify the emotional and cultural climate of an organization,
effectively and energetically work with key players to create communication,
learning and change. Creating and achieving realistic and timely
goals is the hallmark of all Richard's work.
